Activism for Beginners
Many people interested in activism for beginners worry that they are not experienced enough or do not know where to start.
One moment that shaped how I think about activism happened at the 2017 Women’s March in Washington, where I met Rose. Surrounded by women and girls holding signs and smiling together, Rose stood out because of her joyful energy and excellent protest sign.
When I asked to take her picture, she gave me this incredible shot. What stayed with me most was the reason she came to the march: she wanted to leave a better world for her children and grandchildren.
That is how many people begin activism. With compassion, hope, and the desire to make a difference.
