Activism For Beginners

"I'm ready. Where do I start?"

The world needs more activism for beginners resources. You’ll find them here.

Rose wants to leave a better world for her children and grandchildren. I met her at the 2017 Women’s March in Washington. Surrounded by a group of women and girls, Rose stood out because of her excellent protest sign. Like most people out for the march, they were smiling and joyful. When I asked her to pose for a picture, she gave me this incredible shot.

I never saw Rose after that day, but something tells me that sassy grandma was one of the millions of new activists in 2017. Her protest sign tells me she doesn’t hold anything back. I wonder what sort of activism she participated in. Did she find the cause closest to her heart? Was she one of the many people who jumped in and then ended up back on the sidelines?

On the day I met Rose, I was motivated, too. But I ended up spreading myself thin across many causes and not having much of an impact. I needed activism for beginners. I finally stepped back and decided to get better prepared, only to find there weren’t any resources for new activists. My research birthed The Happy Activist: Journey the 5-Step Activism Path to Focus Your Passion and Change the World (formerly What’s On Your Sign?)
